Apeksha's Story

Apeksha’s dance journey began at the age of four when she started learning Bharatanatyam at Hejje Gejje, Manipal Udupi. She trained continuously in Bharatanatyam for ten years before exploring various Western dance forms, learning from different teachers along the way.

She pursued a degree in Computer Science Engineering from NMAMIT Nitte, and it was during this time that her passion for contemporary dance grew even stronger. Her curiosity led her to learn contemporary dance through various resources, and in 2016, she began training under Salim, following his structured curriculum. Her love for contemporary and jazz deepened, and she started performing and teaching these dance forms while continuing her career in the IT industry.

In 2021, she co-founded The Dance Stories with Salim, bringing their shared dream to life. She has performed in several notable works, including Memory and Bitter Earth. As a choreographer, she has created pieces such as My Rose Wasn’t Red, The Street Light That Never Turned On, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Never Enough.

Apeksha also choreographed a Bharatanatyam piece for the India Dance World Cup qualifiers, where her student won a silver medal. Alongside Salim, she has curated and organized Parindey – The Dance Stories Dance Festival for three consecutive years, providing a platform for both budding and established artists.

Like Salim, Apeksha also pursued training in Kathak under Guru Shri Mohith Sridhar and has completed her 4th-year Senior Diploma in the classical dance form.

With her dedication to dance, Apeksha continues to inspire and nurture students, helping them grow as artists while staying true to her own journey of learning and exploration.
